The Parents and Friends of MAC community group has announced plans to build a new adventure playground at Te Kura o Tititea Mount Aspiring College (MAC).
The group aims to raise $80,000 to complete the playground by 2024.
MAC principal Nicola Jacobsen said the playground will be an inclusive space designed to encourage imaginative play and physical activity.
It will feature a range of climbing structures and surfaces, she said.
“As the only secondary school in Wānaka and with enrolments having grown over 18 percent since 2018, we want to provide our 1,300 students with the best possible learning environment,” Nicola said.

“The new playground will be a wonderful addition to our school, allowing our students to explore, take risks and challenge themselves in a safe and fun environment.
“We’re really excited to be building an adventure playground at MAC.”
The project, led by the Parents and Friends of MAC community group in partnership with the school’s principal, is seeking community support to help fund the playground.
“We are grateful for the support of our local community in helping us create this new resource for our students,” Nicola said.
“The playground will not only benefit our students but will be a valuable resource for our whole community, providing a place for families to come together and enjoy our wonderful outdoor environment.”
Parents and Friends of MAC has launched a Givealittle fundraiser to support the adventure playground project.
Parents and caregivers of current students can contribute via their myKindo account and anyone can contribute through the Givealittle page here.
Donations can also be made directly to the MAC Board of Trustees Westpac account: 03-1739-0027820-00 with the reference ‘playground’.
