Wao Aotearoa has postponed its Wao Summit 2025 programme launch - but the carbon-zero advocacy group promises it will be worth the wait.
The programme launch will now take place on Thursday August 14, ahead of the week-long summit at the end of October.
Each year Wao Aotearoa hosts a summit designed to inspire action towards a regenerative future and this year’s summit theme is ‘2125: Journey to the Future’, Wao Aotearoa programme manager Babu Blatt said.
“This year we are bringing New Zealand’s leading change makers, climate experts, bold ideas, and real-world solutions to Queenstown and Wānaka - looking 100 years ahead to shape how we live, lead, and thrive in 2125.”
More details will be shared at the launch, but Wao Aoteaora says it will include a return of the crowd favourite Food Resilience Day and more films and weekend community tours.
The summit’s Better Building Day - which brings together building industry professionals to learn about innovative approaches to sustainable construction - is set to be the biggest yet.

Wao Aotearoa also has its AGM coming up - and it’s encouraging locals to attend.
“Join us for the Wao AGM as we reflect on a year of impact, welcome new team members, and look ahead to the next chapter of our journey toward a more regenerative future,” Babu said.
“This is a chance to connect with the people behind Wao, hear what we’ve achieved in 2024/25, and learn more about where we’re headed - including a first look at The Journey to 2125.”
The AGM will take place on Wednesday August 13, 4.30pm-6pm, at the Wānaka Community Hub, and attendees are asked to RSVP (to [email protected]).
“Everyone is welcome - whether you're a long-time supporter or just curious to learn more about the work we do,” Babu said.
