The loss of a Wanaka Lions Club member prompted other members to buy an AED (an automated external defibrillator) to be made available to the Wanaka community.
An AED is an easy-to-use machine used to treat sudden cardiac arrest.
Club members decided the Upper Clutha Rugby Clubrooms (Pembroke Pavilion) was an ideal location as it is a facility widely used for sports, weddings and other functions, including the Wanaka A&P Show.
The site is also in close proximity to the lake.
The AED is in an external unlocked cabinet on the lakeside entry to the clubrooms, making it accessible 24 hours a day.
The Wanaka Lions will maintain the AED.
Find a full list of local AEDs on the Wanaka App Defibrillators page.
