The water quality around the Lake Hāwea boat ramp is again safe for swimming, Otago Regional Council (ORC) says.
On December 30 routine testing found contamination and swimming has not been recommended at the popular swimming location for the last week and a half.
Results from testing on January 6 have confirmed the location is now safe for swimming.
An ORC representative said the high levels of bacteria previously found at the site was likely the result of run-off following heavy rain in the Lake Hāwea area.
Weekly monitoring of the site will continue throughout the summer.
Swimmers can check for water quality updates at the LAWA website.
