The annual, much anticipated Kahu Youth Cardboard Cup is happening this Saturday.

Youth aged 8-24yrs are invited to build a cardboard boat and have the chance to win some epic prizes!!

There are 3 racing categories, 8-14years, 15-19years and 20-24years.

Need more cardboard? We've go loads so come and pick some up from Kahu Youth at the new Paetara Aspiring Central after school this week from today until Thursday 3pm - 5:30pm and Friday between 3pm - 8pm.

Two boats will race at a time from the shore to a buoy approximately 20 meters out and back to the shore again. 

Epic Prizes

We have some INCREDIBLE prizes up for grabs including; Wanaka River Journeys adventures, kayaking with Paddle Wanaka, QLDC Sport & Recreation pool passes, sailing lessons and much, much more!! We will be giving out prizes to the following crews and boats; Titanic Best Sink, Most Outrageous, Best Themed, People Choice and Fastest Boat. A HUGE thanks to our community who have supported us with these great prizes.

The Race

1. Cabin crews will sail/ paddle their cardboard boats, two boats at a time from the shore to a buoy approximately 20 meters out and back to the shore again. 
2. Youth must wear a life jacket, wetsuits recommended. 
3. Hot chocolate and marshmallows for all youth that race to warm them up afterwards!
4. Prize giving once all boats have raced.
