Emergency services manage flooding, Aubrey RoadThe flooding is in a different location to previous flooding along Aubrey Road.

Emergency services and Queenstown Lakes District Council (QLDC) are on site to manage flooding at Aubrey Road today (Monday July 1).

Firefighters are pumping water from Mt Roy Terrace (adjacent to Aubrey Road), on to Aubrey Road and over to the south side of the road, where a large pool has formed in an empty section.

Water is also pooling on to the road at the same location, which is about 300 metres east of the Aubrey Road and Anderson Road roundabout.

Traffic management is in place, reducing traffic to one-way where pooling on the road is at its worst.

Flood water is being pumped across Aubrey Road to a vacant section.

“Our priority is working to fully understand the cause and origin of the flooding, and its impact on residents,” QLDC spokesperson Sam White told the Wānaka App.

“At this stage, the issue appears to be unrelated to previous intermittent flooding at the Anderson Road/Aubrey Road intersection, and is some distance away from the new roundabout.”

QLDC said it would provide an update in due course.
