Hall of Fame announced by Central Otago Sport The winners will be named at a ceremony at the Lake Wānaka Centre on May 10.

The first inductees into the new Central Otago Sports Hall of Fame will be announced in Wānaka in May.


The recognition of our very best athletes will be included in the annual Forsyth Barr 2024 Central Otago Sports Awards ceremony.



“We are pleased to announce the inclusion of the Hall of Fame into this year’s programme,” Sport Central’s spokesperson Tiny Carruthers said.


“There will be considerable interest in who are the initial inductees into the Hall of Fame.”

Tiny said the focus now is to encourage nominations for this year’s awards which recognise male and female athletes, coaches, administrators, and teams from across Central Otago.



Nine awards will be presented.

 

“The push right now is for nominations. They close on April 15 and we encourage clubs, family, friends or the nominees themselves to get those nominations in,” he said.


This year’s ceremony will feature guest speaker and sports broadcaster Mark Richardson, who Tiny said is sure to deliver an entertaining speech.



“The event is a wonderful evening, which highlights the depth of talent in our region.”


The Forsyth Barr Central Otago Sports Awards will be held in Wānaka on Friday May 10.


Nominations close on Monday April 15 and can be made here.


The qualifying period is from April 1, 2023 - March 31, 2024.
