A ‘picnic in the park’ event taking place at the Dinosaur Park tomorrow afternoon (Wednesday November 29) will kick off this season’s Summerdaze events in Wānaka.
The family-friendly event will feature a free sausage sizzle, a games trailer, a pop-up library and more.
Wānaka Upper Clutha Community Board (WUCCB) members will be on-site, with the event providing an informal environment for community members to interact with the board.
“Please come and say hi and share ideas for what would make Wānaka and the Upper Clutha better for you,” WUCCB chair Simon Telfer said.
“The board loves connecting with everyone in the community, especially those with young children.”
During the most recent Summerdaze event, the board got great feedback on the need to provide better walking and biking crossing points from the lakefront across to Pembroke Park, he said.
“I’ve also put in a request for higher quality sausages this year; let’s hope the QLDC budget can stretch!”
The Wānaka Picnic in the Park will take place from 3pm-5pm tomorrow (Wednesday November 29) at the Dinosaur Park on the Wānaka lakefront.
Summerdaze is a collection of events, organised by Queenstown Lakes District Council (QLDC), happening district-wide over the summer months.
The events are designed to encourage residents and visitors to enjoy the outdoors, celebrate their neighbourhood and spend time with each other.
“We’re delighted to bring Summerdaze back to the district for a fourth year,” QLDC community partnerships manager Marie Day said.
Keep an eye out for additions to the Summerdaze lineup here.
