The Upper Clutha Sports Services Hub is offering a free first aid course to local sports clubs this month, in conjunction with Sport Central and Mitre 10 Mega Wānaka.
The hub was recently established to support clubs with governance, operational advice, finance support, and general guidance.
It complements and collaborates with organisations like Sport Central, Queenstown Lakes District Council, and Huddl.
“We’re here to help,” hub spokesperson Tiny Curruthers told the Wānaka App.
The first aid course is the first of many initiatives the hub plans to roll out to support clubs, he said.
The course will cover all relevant sports injuries, including concussion protocols.
There are 20 free spots available, with demand already high.
Mitre 10 Mega Wānaka is supporting the course by contributing towards the fees and offering participating clubs a 20 percent discount on first aid equipment and other sports-related gear in store, Tiny said.
The first aid course will run over two evenings (May 28-29) from 6pm to 8pm at the St John Rooms in Wānaka. Clubs wishing to attend should contact Jo Knight ([email protected]) to secure a spot.
Clubs needing governance, financial, or operational support are encouraged to contact the Upper Clutha Sports Services Hub ([email protected]).
