Five day festival of sport planned for MarchThe Wānaka Recreation Centre will be among many local venues opening its doors to the public during Takaro Upper Clutha.

A revamped Upper Clutha Festival of Sport has been announced, with a five day event planned for March 21 to 25.

The new event, to be known as Takaro (Play) Upper Clutha, is being organised by Sport Central with the support of the Queenstown Lakes District Council.

“The format is new and exciting,” Sport Central community sport advisor Tiny Carruthers said.

“Clubs and activity groups will do their thing, at their own facilities, and invite the public along to ‘Take a Look’, ‘Have a Go’ or ‘Get Involved’.”

Tiny said the response from sports clubs had been very positive.

“There is a huge variety of sport, active recreation, and play opportunities in the Upper Clutha,” he said.
