The Wānaka A&P Show has announced a jam-packed entertainment lineup for the 2023 show.
One of New Zealand’s most popular country-rock artists, Cam Scott, will take the Radio Wānaka stage to perform at both days of the event; up-and-coming young singer Gareth Barker will entertain the crowds with a selection of lively cover hits; and in-demand Dunedin magician Jonathan Usher will bring his best tricks to the Wānaka Showgrounds for the event.
Popular television and radio cooking personality Annabelle White will also offer tips and advice to foodies during a presentation at the Life & Style marquee.
Wānaka A&P Show event manager Jane Stalker says she is especially looking forward to the Upper Clutha community coming together at next year’s show after the 2022 show was cancelled for the first time in its 85-year history this year due to Covid-19.
Next year’s performers at the show will include Cam Scott, Gareth Barker and Jonathan Usher.
“We are always very excited to bring this incredible event to the Upper Clutha community, but even more so after having missed a year,” Jane said.
“We have an excellent entertainment lineup starring some great grassroots entertainers. All of the artists we have chosen have a broad appeal, so there will be something for everyone to enjoy.”
The traditional entertainment favourites of equestrian and livestock events, plus wood chopping, sheep shearing and the world-famous K9 Natural Jack Russell Race, will also return during the March 10-11 show.
“There will be plenty of activities to keep the children occupied, from classic carnival rides and free facepainting to performances by the wonderful Sporty Suzie, with her hilarious repertoire of circus- and exercise-inspired stunts,” Jane said.
The Wānaka A&P Show attracts more than 40,000 people each year for its variety of livestock and equestrian events, rides, games and activities, home industry displays and live entertainment.
Held at the Wānaka Showgrounds on Ardmore Street, the show attracts more than 40,000 people each year for its variety of livestock and equestrian events, rides, games and activities, home industry displays and live entertainment.
More than 500 trade exhibitors and food stalls from around NZ also set up in the showgrounds to provide the crowds with an unforgettable lakeside shopping and dining experience.
“The Wānaka Show is one of the largest agricultural and pastoral events in the country and it just keeps getting better and better with a huge variety of activities and things to see and do,” Jane said.
