Death of Hāwea Flat man in Invercargill referred to coronerThe death of Hāwea Flat man Quinn David McIntryre in Invercargill on Sunday is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing, NZ Police said.

The man found dead in Invercargill on Sunday (May 19) was from the Upper Clutha, NZ Police have confirmed.


His name was Quinn David McIntyre and he was a 42-year-old living in Hāwea Flat.


Quinn was found deceased near the intersection of Sydney Street and St Andrew Street - a residential area of Invercargill near Queens Park - at approximately 9.25am on Sunday morning.


His death was initially treated as unexplained and this afternoon (Tuesday May 21) NZ Police said the case had been referred to the coroner.


A post-mortem had been completed, NZ Police said.


According to his Linkedin profile Quinn was an environmental consultant at Enviroscope.


Between 2015 and 2019 Quinn worked at Queenstown Lakes District Council, including spending two years as the resource consents manager, his Linkedin profile said. 


“Mr McIntyre's family are being provided with support at this difficult time and have asked for privacy,” NZ Police said in a statement.
