Hello folks, here is a bit of a roundup of what has been happening this past fortnight.

Intoxication and shoplifting abound.

A house on McDougall Street narrowly missed being hit by a car one morning after said car was clipped by another when they were pulling out of a drive. This is why it pays to look both ways a few times when coming onto a road and not rushing it. Like the cheese adverts say, good things take time.

Another crash was attended after some rainfall so watch those conditions.

Police attended the fatal crash in Makarora that has been in the news already. Our thoughts are with the family at this time, and we thank those who helped on the night.

There have been a few too many incidents of intoxicated patrons causing problems at the local watering holes about town. Antics cover a broad range of pushing and shoving, glass throwing,

punches, street urination and even one punter who mistook an establishment for a gym and began doing pullups from a beam. Hats off to that gent for making gains a priority, but it’s a good indicator to us that there has been one too many had.

The proverbial Wānaka drink driver emerged with a breath result over five times the legal limit. Driver and passengers were all completely toasted. An accident waiting to happen so a good thing they were taken off the road.

Shoplifting too makes a return with many being brought to our attention and snowing us under. A hard line is being taken on this and offenders will see the inside of a courtroom. I think the

community has had a gutful of it.

A few family harm incidents have kept us busy as well.

The weekend warriors have noticed an influx of buses at night with people departing them who have most likely been at a wedding based on the way they are dressed. It has also been noticed that a large amount of the intoxication in town is from these people. Remember that if you are too far gone on the tipsy scale, no bar is going to take you.

Take care everyone and have a great week.
