There are 101 new cases of Covid-19 in Queenstown Lakes today (Monday May 2), bringing the active total to 887.
The Southern District Health Board (SDHB) does not provide a breakdown of cases within Queenstown Lakes so the Wānaka App cannot provide Wānaka specific case numbers.
There are 26 people hospitalised with Covid-19 in the region: 20 in Dunedin and six in Southland. There are no Covid patients in ICU.
Hospitalisation of people with Covid-19 continues to be high throughout the Southern district, the SDHB said in a statement.
“These high numbers continue to put pressure on our hospital systems, including emergency departments, due to the streaming of patients into the red stream (Covid-19 positive) and green stream (Covid-19 negative).”
Across the region there are 784 new cases and an active total of 6,287 cases.
There are 52 new cases in Central Otago; 38 in Clutha; 306 in Dunedin; 25 in Gore; 169 in Invercargill; 57 in Southland; and 34 in Waitaki.
