Simone’s team won the team event last year.

“I’m super excited to be back racing the Multi Challenge, it’s home ground and I love supporting a local event,” she said.

“This one is a great scenic course, very beautiful and they make everyone welcome and feel special for the day. I love the atmosphere of the Challenge events.”

Former male champion and Wānaka local Hamish Elliott will be back to defend his title and says he feels “a little extra pressure and expectation” this year.

“I’m excited to return and defend my title,” Hamish said.

“I’m learning to thrive on [the extra pressure] in training and racing.”

Hamish said the Multi provides a spectacular tour of the Wānaka region and the race has a great atmosphere.

The event offers individual, team, and tandem options and this year a duathlon has been added which excludes the kayak leg.
