As the impacts of COVID-19 continue to generate uncertainty, Cardrona-Treble Cone’s management has contacted its email database of members and pass holders to ease their minds about the upcoming ski season - which it is hoped will still proceed.
Cardrona-Treble Cone’s communication executive Jen Houltham said a number of people were asking about the combined ski-fields’ refund policy should the 2020 winter season be affected by COVID-19.
The email should reassure pass holders, particularly those looking to get an ‘earlybird pass’, that the refund policy for this season is “super flexible to reflect the current situation,” she said.
“If for any reason you decide not to use your pass because of COVID-19, we will offer you a refund. This refund option applies at all times including in the lead up to winter 2020. So if your circumstances change in the next few weeks or months because of COVID-19 - we've got your back and you'll get a refund,” she said.
Refunds, or a credit to use your pass in 2021, will also be granted to those whose travel is restricted by COVID-19 and who cannot come to the skifield.
If the season is shortened due to COVID-19 then a refund will be available on a pro-rata basis, based on the number of days the pass was used during the shortened season.
If Cardrona-Treble Cone needs to scale back its operations because of COVID-19, and reduced facilities impact passholders’ decision to ski with them this season, then they will offer a credit for winter 2021 or refund, Jen said.
This also applies to anyone holding an ‘unlimited season pass’ (which includes access to both Cardrona and Treble Cone skifields) if only one of the two skifields is opened.
And if COVID-19 prohibits the skifields from opening at all, then a full refund or a credit for 2021 is available.
“We are hoping to be able to operate under alert levels one and two,” Jen said, adding that under that scenario Cardrona-Treble Cone is confident it will have enough staff to operate both skifields.
