Cardrona prepares for partial openingThe McDougalls Chondola and the learner’s slope will open tomorrow and the rest of the mountain will be progressively opened as snow allows.

Cardrona Alpine Resort will open for the 2024 winter season tomorrow (Saturday June 17) and staff are working to get ready for the influx of skiers and snowboarders.

It is expected that only the learner’s slope and the McDougalls Chondola will be operating on opening day.

The terrain park team is hoping to put in a couple of rail features, and guests will be able to get food and drinks at Base Café, Base Bar and Mezz.

“We’re so stoked to kick off winter 2024 this weekend,” Cardrona and Treble Cone general manager Laura Hedley said.

The Cardrona team has been working hard to get ready for opening, Cardrona and Treble Cone general manager Laura Hedley said.

“Our team has been working incredibly hard to make this happen – including the snowmaking and grooming team, supplementing the natural snowfall we’ve received in the last two weeks.”

She said the team was putting together the finishing touches needed to open as the snow continued to fall on Thursday (June 13).

The current front could bring more snow over the weekend and beyond.

As conditions allow, the resort will progressively open the rest of the mountain facilities, Laura said.

Snow Farm is expected to open on June 28 and Treble Cone one day later on June 29.

There will be ‘first chair’ tees up for grabs at McDougalls for tomorrow’s early risers, Laura said.
