Wao Summit is making it easy to understand and easy to take action giving you access to knowledge and information from New Zealand's leading experts and our very own local heroes.

Systems Thinking in Building - Better Building Design - Wānaka

The evening is a chance to network and connect with others in the community and discuss systems thinking, transition engineering, regenerative design, materials for the future, advanced construction, simply, how to build better. 


We'll be joined virtually from the Orkney Islands by Susan Krumdieck MNZM, author, researcher and professor in the leading field of transition engineering along with Campbell McNeill, partner at architecture firm ahha thinking outside the box when it comes to design and putting theory into action and Marcus Allen, founder of Àbol Eco Homes.


Join us at 5.30pm for nibbles (included in the price), local beverages and networking. The panel conversation will start at 6:30pm.

Climate Matters Tiny Talks

A Peecha Kucha style evening with some incredible individuals and groups quietly getting on with solving some of our big challenges around climate change and biodiversity loss. What does a resilient 21st Century community look like? Energy use, migration, food, what do we need to prepare for? Join the big guns as we dive deep into the future.


We know that some amount of change is already baked into the climate. It has started to affect communities, including here in Aotearoa. What 2050 looks like will largely depend on our actions to reduce emissions. However, we also need to look at adapting to a different climate. This conversation looks at what a resilient 21st Century community should look like.


Rod Oram will be facilitating a discussion to tease out what our future may look like.
