Kahu Youth Trust and Queenstown Lakes District Council (QLDC) sport and recreation have teamed up to launch ‘Hustle’, a new after-school programme at Wanaka Recreation Centre.
Hustle is an interactive programme for 11 to 17-year-olds, focused on engagement, movement and teamwork.
Samantha Strong from the Kahu Youth Trust said the programme, which launched earlier this month, is about trying something new and keeping active, especially for young people who might not participate regularly in organised team sports.
“There’ll be a different activity each week like dodgeball, touch American football, soccer baseball and heaps more,” she said.
It will also combine food, music and fun, she added.
The nine-week programme costs just $20, and it’s open to everyone - even if they haven’t been to a Kahu Youth session before.
Hustle runs between 4.00-5.45pm every Wednesday in Term 2 (until July 7) at Wanaka Recreation Centre’s indoor courts.
No pre-booking is required – just turn up to join in.
