Wānaka’s Adam Hall has won a bronze medal at the Beijing Paralympic Winter Games, finishing third in the super combined (standing).
It is New Zealand’s third medal of the Games after Corey Peters won a gold and silver.
“There’s nothing else I could have done up there,” Adam said.
“I pushed as hard as I could.”
The combined competition represents the final result of two disciplines. After the first event (Super-G) Adam was in fifteenth place but he recorded the second fastest time in the slalom (second event) to rocket up the field into third.
Slalom is Adam’s specialist discipline. His time of 39.44 being second fastest after gold medal winner Arthur Bauchet of France with 39.38.
“To come from fifteenth to a podium spot, it’s unbelievable,” Adam said.
This is Adam’s fourth Paralympic medal, along with two previous slalom gold medals and a bronze in the same event from 2018.
His next and final event is the Slalom, scheduled for this Saturday March 12.
Adam’s team mate Aaron Ewen crashed in the slalom. He was in tenth position after the first event.
