About MINT

At Mint Charitable Trust, we believe every person deserves to be celebrated, supported and included - for life. We walk alongside individuals with intellectual disabilities and their whānau from 12 years through to 60 years, offering continuity, care and opportunity at every stage of life.

We are a small, values-led organisation with a big heart. Our work is relationship-based and long-term, focused on building and maintaining great lives filled with belonging, purpose and connection within their community.

Our programmes span the lifespan and include:

  • Active recreation
  • Social connection
  • Community access
  • Workforce development
  • Family and whānau support

Through inclusive, adaptive and strengths-based programmes, we create spaces where people are supported to grow, contribute and thrive - today, and into the future.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Programme Lead with experience in the disability and not-for-profit sector who is excited to strengthen foundations, bring their own expertise, and help take our organisation and its people to the next level.

If you're looking for a meaningful change or considering a move to Wānaka, this is a rare opportunity to step into a hands-on role that makes a tangible difference in the community.

The Role

This is a varied and people-focused position combining:

  • Programme design and delivery
  • Community-based support work
  • Organisational administration and systems leadership

A significant part of this role involves building trusted relationships and supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities to participate confidently in social, recreational and community life.

You will work closely with the Mint staff team and Board of Trustees.

Occasional evening or weekend work for events may be required.

Key Responsibilities

Programme & Community Delivery

  • Deliver inclusive recreation, vocational and social programmes
  • Support children, youth and adults to participate and build confidence
  • Facilitate group activities in adaptive, strengths-based ways
  • Build strong relationships with participants and their whānau
  • Plan and deliver holiday programmes, community events and social initiatives
  • Support and grow our volunteer programme
  • Promote dignity, choice and belonging across all interactions

Administration, Finance & Systems

  • Provide strong administrative leadership across the organisation
  • Manage financial processes using Xero (invoicing, expenses, reconciliation)
  • Support budgeting, forecasting and reporting
  • Contribute to funding applications and accountability reporting
  • Maintain robust systems, records and documentation
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and safeguarding policies
  • Support clear communication across digital and community channels

Growth Pathway

This role is designed to grow with the right person. As Mint develops, there is genuine opportunity for this position to evolve into a senior coordination, operations or leadership role, with increased responsibility across:

  • Organisational systems and processes
  • Funding, reporting and compliance
  • Team and volunteer development
  • Programme oversight and quality improvement

We are seeking someone ready to contribute strategically and uplift team capability over time.

About You

You are values-driven, highly organised, and confident balancing people-focused work with strong systems and structure.

You will ideally bring:

  • Experience in the disability and/or not-for-profit sector
  • Confidence working directly alongside individuals with intellectual disabilities
  • Exceptional organisational and administrative skills
  • Experience using Xero, budgets and financial reporting
  • Confidence contributing to funding applications and reports
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail
  • Experience supporting volunteers
  • Confidence using IT tools (Excel, Canva and Social Media)
  • Ability to create and use visual supports
  • Full NZ Driver’s Licence
  • Police Check and Children’s Worker Safety Check (or willingness to obtain)
  • A relevant qualification is an advantage but not essential.

This role suits someone living locally or open to relocating to Wānaka.

What We Offer

  • A rare, meaningful role within a values-led organisation
  • The chance to shape and grow Mint’s future
  • A supportive, collaborative, people-first team culture
  • A varied role with direct community impact and operational leadership
  • Strong connections with inspiring local organisations
  • Access to a shared work vehicle
  • Laptop and phone provided
  • Professional development and on-the-job training
  • Flexible working arrangements (including some work-from-home options)
  • Initial support to find housing if relocating
  • The opportunity to live and work in beautiful Wānaka

Don’t meet every requirement?

If this role excites you and you believe your experience could strengthen our team, we would love to hear from you. We value alignment, lived experience and potential just as much as qualifications.

Applications close February 25th 2026.
