Yeverley McCarthy is standing for the Wānaka-Upper Clutha Ward in the 2025 Local Body Elections.

Statement

I have lived in the Upper Clutha area for 48 years firstly as a farmers wife in Hāwea Flat and more latterly in Wānaka.

I have been very involved in my community over many years from Plunket, Wānaka Golf Club, BOT Chair Hāwea Flat and Holy Family Schools, Wānaka Show, Hāwea Picnic Races, as Chairperson for the Holy Family School and Church builds and as past Chair and present board member of the Community Hub.

I offer myself for election as I feel I can bring a pragmatic approach to the Council through my experience. I do not want to do anything other then keep us on track to deliver the basics well and within budget and to ensure that we keep our rates under control.

Our area is developing very quickly and it is imperative that we plan for and budget for that growth with care and astute management.
