Stop/go temporary closure

Stop/go temporary closure

Starting on Monday 14 July, crews will be working on part of Aubrey Road and its intersection with Beacon Point Road, upgrading a section of wastewater pipeline and water main beneath the road. Once complete, these works will improve the functionality of our water and wastewater networks, provide for future growth in the area, and help to avoid potential wastewater overflows too!

From Monday 14 July, stop/go traffic lights will be operating on Aubrey Road and at its intersection with Beacon Point Road, and the southbound lane on Bay View Drive will be closed to vehicles. These lights will be operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week until Friday 25 July.

From Monday 28 July until early September, traffic management will change to just a closure to the westbound lane of Aubrey Road from Bay View Drive through to Beacon Point Road.

And finally, from early September until mid-October, the eastbound lane of Aubrey Road from Beacon Point Road through to Bay View Drive will be closed.

Haven’t we already upgraded the pipes here over the last few years?

Plenty of work has taken place underneath Aubrey Road in the past, and we acknowledge this has caused disruption for residents in the area and road users. Previous work upgraded other sections of the wastewater pipe, but this final section we’re starting work on was deferred to complete assessments for a future pump station to be located on Beacon Point Road.

More on the project here.
