Diamond Lake and Rocky Mountain walks open.

A variation of walks ranging from short easier options, to steeper intermediate grade trails.

• Diamond Lake circuit track: 45min return, 2.5km
• Diamond Lake lookout: 1hr return, 2km
• Lake Wanaka lookout: 2hr return, 5km
• Rocky Mountain summit track: 3hr return, 7km

From the car park it is a short 10 minute walk to Diamond Lake. From Diamond Lake, the track climbs quickly on a well formed track up to a viewing platform that looks over both Diamond Lake and Lake Wanaka. From here, there are two options:

• the lower circuit, that takes in the Lake Wanaka viewpoint. Take care as the track can be slippery at all times throughout the year, however, not recommended in winter due to ice.
• the upper circuit. This track winds its way to the top of Rocky Mountain to and elevation of 775m. From here you can get views of Mount Aspiring and Southern Alps.

Mountain biking is permitted to Diamond Lake only. The surrounding bluffs are popular for rock and sport climbing.

The carpark is 18.5km west of Wanaka off the Wanaka Mount Aspiring Road.
