Fantail Falls is a fan-shaped waterfall that is fed by Fantail Creek tumbling into the Haast River on the West Coast. A 23-meter waterfall, Fantail Falls is part of Mt Aspiring National Park, along HAAST Highway. This is a beautiful and easily accessible waterfall, which drops into the crystal clear Haast River.
Fantail Falls is ideal as a short side-trip on your travels to the West Coast from Wanaka. It can be incredibly impressive, photogenic, and peaceful if there is a lot of water coming down.
Located approximately 5 km (3 mi) from the Gates of Haast Bridge, about 6 km (4 mi) from Thunder Creek Falls, and about 84 km (52 mi) from Wanaka.
