Become an Adult Buddy volunteer!

If you have a couple of hours spare a week or fortnightly, and would like to be a positive role model in a young person’s life, then volunteering as an adult buddy could be right for you!

About the Buddy Programme

The Buddy Programme contributes to the emotional and social well-being of children by matching them with carefully selected and trained adult volunteers in a well-supported mentoring relationship.

Available to children between 5 and 12 years of age, whose life circumstances indicate the need for additional adult support.

The programme aims to increase children’s self-esteem, develop social skills, and help children make positive choices, in a fun and safe environment.

Adult Buddies are:

• Adults who are there to listen, support and encourage their Young Buddy
• People to hang out and have fun with once a week or fortnightly for 2-3 hours
• Adults aged 20 years and over
• Women and men from varied backgrounds and life experiences
• Adult role models who can provide a healthy adult/child relationship
