The Emergency Psychiatric Service is a mobile 24-hour, 7-day a week service providing emergency services to people with acute mental health needs. 

The Southern DHB Mental Health Emergency Services are delivered by the Southland Mental Health Emergency Team (SMHET) based at Southland Hospital and the Emergency Psychiatric Service based at Dunedin Hospital. 

Dunedin Hospital also provide a Psychiatric Consultation Liaison Service.
