Wānaka Crag Fest 2026: NZ’s first ever golden carabiner hunt!

This year, Wānaka Crag Fest will host the Black Diamond Golden Carabiner hunt, the first time this event has been held in New Zealand. A giant treasure hunt for climbers, the $10 entry fee goes directly to the Wānaka Climbing Club to support their Crag Care Fund.

As in previous years, the festival offers a range of clinics for all skill levels and a special focus on youth/family accessibility.

We’re also including youth (ages 13–18) and their caregivers, with dedicated youth clinics tailored to different competency levels.

The weekend isn’t just about climbing—non-climbing activities like yoga, cold water immersion, climbing-related games and lots of time for socialising ensure you will not only unwind, but also try something new.
