Are you a motivated counsellor searching for a purposeful role? Do you want to work as part of a vibrant team of registered nurses, social workers and medical practitioners?

Otago Community Hospice is seeking an exceptional bereavement and grief counsellor to become an integral part of our interdisciplinary team. 

Based in Cromwell and surrounding area, this permanent, part-time position supports the rural Hospice service. You will be responsible for providing bereavement and grief counselling through face-to-face, online, group and individual sessions as well as supporting individuals to strengthen their own informal support networks. Working hours are negotiable between 12 and 16 hours a week. We are flexible on the days worked.

Competitive Remuneration: Enjoy competitive compensation, acknowledging your pivotal role in community palliative care. As a vital team member, remuneration ranges between $71,000-$91,000 (pro-rata) depending on qualifications, skills and experience.


What We Expect From You:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification & registration (a full member of NZAC or equivalent)
  • A high standard of both written and verbal communication 
  • A willingness to learn and a commitment to continuous learning and professional growth. While experience in palliative care is preferred, we welcome those with transferable skills.
  • Clean unrestricted driver's licence: This role requires travel within the Otago region, making a current driver's license essential.
